Zacky Muñoz is a Spider-Man–loving thirteen-year-old food allergy spokesperson and advocate and a proud Pasadena resident, who often shares his hometown with pride as he travels to speak and advocate across the country. Born with severe, life-threatening food allergies, Zacky experienced his first anaphylactic reaction at school at just six years old, requiring emergency epinephrine administered by the school nurse and a subsequent hospital visit. His reaction occurred after his designated “safe food” was mistakenly replaced with an allergen in the school cafeteria.

That moment became a turning point for Zacky and his family, inspiring a deep commitment to ensuring safer environments for students living with food allergies.

Zacky went on to co-write, initiate, and champion historic California legislation known as the Zacky Bill, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2022. The law established a Food Allergy Online Resource Guide through the California Department of Education, providing schools and families with critical, accessible information.

In 2023, Zacky initiated and led another legislative effort, the Muñoz Student Allergy Framework for Emergencies (SAFE) Act , which was also signed into law. The SAFE Act ensures clearer communication and access to epinephrine in schools and, for the first time in California, allows after-school providers and other clearance activity holders to receive training.

After a two-and-a-half-year journey, Zacky laid the foundation for a third landmark law, the Zacky FAST Act, which updated California code to reflect the latest scientific advancements in food allergy treatment and emergency response. With its passage, Zacky became the youngest advocate to initiate three food allergy-related laws in the State of California.

In 2025, Zacky’s advocacy and leadership were recognized nationally when he was featured on the cover of Time for Kids magazine.

Zacky is also the founder of The Zacky Project, a national initiative dedicated to advancing food allergy safety, awareness, and legislation across the United States. The organization empowers youth advocates, families, and educators to create safer, more inclusive communities through advocacy, education, and
